Chevy recently flaunted images of what appears like the long-awaited 2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer. As can be seen from the photos, the new model seems heavily updated over the existing model in order to better place it against its arch rivals that include the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Fortuner, and the Ford Endeavor – all of which are India bound. Christened the Chevrolet Trailblazer Premier Concept, the face-lifted production–spec model debuted in concept form during the 2016 Bangkok Motor Show. Please, care to read on, to get useful insights on what to expect from the new 2017 Trailblazer including details of its expected release date.
Some of the changes to expect on the new model include a new front and rear fascia profile. Compared to the previous one, the front fascia now features a new dual-port grille, therefore keeping the design language in line with the new Chevy’s Global design concept. The headlamps and LED daytime running lights are sleeker and flank the new dual-port grille. The new headlamps and hood are accommodated by the redesigned front fenders, while the side profile remains unaltered save for the new set of 18” alloy wheels beneath.
The Chevy Trailblazer interior has gained a new dashboard. It is of high-quality and looks premium thanks to the smorgasbord of new technologies and materials available. Some of the new features to expect in the cabin include, but are not limited to the latest version of Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, an upgraded cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and scores of softer materials.
The new model will be built in Thailand, where GM has been building vehicles for almost two decades now. See, with an annual output in excess of 1.5M vehicles, Thailand is arguably one of the largest automotive industrial center globally, and it is therefore not surprising to see General motors carrying on with their operations there under the Chevrolet badge. While GM is almost entirely associated with the USA, the 2017 Trailblazer sadly will not be US bound.
The last the U.S market saw of the Trailblazer was back in 2008 when its production ceased completely. After a four year hiatus, Chevy revived the nameplate but this time round it was offered exclusively for markets in Southeast Asia and countries such as Australia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, India and South Africa. As expected, it garnered quite a substantial fan base in all of those countries. For 2017, and probably – who knows – early 2018, Chevy hopes to replicate the same success story with the all-new Trailblazer Premier concept.

The pricing info hasn’t been offered yet, but it is widely expected the new model will cost substantially higher than the outgoing model. The exterior design cues are similar to those of its sister vehicle – the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. This is what Matte Noone, director if Design for GM Brazil had to say, “Just like the model it is replacing, the new Chevrolet Trailblazer 2017 delivers a great capability combo, from daily city driving to negotiating off-road trails. There’s an obvious sense of a sophisticated appearance and muscle in the design. Since its first debut, it has managed to remain athletic, agile and finely finished just the way our consumers want it.”
Some of the notable features to expect include 22-inch wheels, body-colored side steps, “Trailblazer” badged front doors, a slightly larger spoiler, new exterior colors, and thicker chrome inserts.

The signature Chevy cues continue inside. All control interfaces get upscale appearance, flexibility, and spaciousness. With a flowing dual cockpit design, integrated center stack, and instrument panel, the new model manages to keep the boldness required of an SUV while offering car-like characteristics that modern buyers are seeking.
Some of the features include a new infotainment system, three different colors, a revised center stack, an eight-inch touchscreen display, wooden appliques, redesigned door panels, and premium brown leather seating upholstery.
Chevrolet is yet to offer the trim lineup for the 2017 Trailblazer. An update will be offered on this space as soon as we get the info. We’re still compiling more details about the 2017 Trailblazer SS model, an update will sure follow sometime later this year.
There’s still now word as to what to expect under the hood of the new 2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer. It is however expected it’ll be offered with two engines: a 2.5L Duramax rated at 161 horsepower, and a 2.8L Duramax capable of making 197 ponies.
Details are nonexistent here. A complete safety review detailing the safety and driver-assistance technologies available for the new-look model will be available on its release date. So keep posted.
